Do I need an account?
No. Feather opens and works right away. Your bookmarks, passwords and settings stay on your computer.
Will my websites work?
Yes. Feather renders pages with your system's engine: WebKit, the one in Safari, on Mac, and WebView2, the one in Edge, on Windows.
Why is Feather so small?
Because it doesn't carry its own engine: it uses the one your system already keeps up to date. The rest, written in Rust, fits in a few megabytes.
Can I bring my bookmarks and passwords?
Yes. Bookmarks can be imported from Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox, Safari or Arc. Passwords are imported from a CSV file exported by your old browser or password manager (Proton Pass, Bitwarden…).
Can I use my extensions?
Yes, but it's still experimental: most work, some don't fully work yet. They come from the Chrome Web Store, where an “Add to Feather” button replaces “Add to Chrome”. On Mac, macOS 15.4 or later is required, and Firefox extensions can be installed too.
How do I make Feather my default browser?
In Feather's Settings, or in your system settings: System Settings › Desktop & Dock on Mac, Settings › Apps › Default apps on Windows.
A website looks broken. What should I do?
Click “Protected” in the address bar and turn off protections for that site. If the page then looks right, blocking was getting in its way: let us know, with the site's address.
Feather closed by itself.
Feather writes the cause to plantage.txt in its settings folder, without any page address. Attach that file to your report: it helps us a lot.
Is Feather available on iPhone or Android?
Not for now. Feather is available on Mac and Windows.
